Researchers in the department routinely work with “Big Earth Data” and maximize these datasets by applying analytical techniques such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and geostatistics. Applications include understanding and processing large seismic datasets, analysis of petroleum production, interpretation of large geochemical datasets, and the processing and analysis of remotely sensed satellite data.
